Used Mazda Rx-7 cars for sale

Mazda cars are known for mixing Japanese reliability with technological engine innovations. Mazda began by creating three-wheel trucks in 1931, but actual Mazda cars were not forthcoming until 1961. Later in the Sixties, Mazda got a reputation for doing things differently when they began experimenting with that schoolboys’ favourite, the Wankel rotary engine. Early tests reassured them that this was a technology that they could work with. Rotary engines use about a third less parts and weigh around a third less than standard combustion engines, though their efficiency is rather questionable.

Mazda cars first incorporated the rotary engine in 1967 with the ultra-cute 110 sports car. A strong seller, it was a pity that the subsequent RX models lost their way stylistically until the advent of the RX-7 which went on to sell over a million cars in various guises.

Mazda cars really hit their stride with the MX5, now the world’s best selling two-seater sports car. It’s cute, convertible, confident and guaranteed to put a smile on your face when you chuck it into a corner. Other Mazda cars (except one) don’t really set the world on fire. There’s a compact, a saloon and a family carrier that are all reliable and do precisely the jobs they set out to do, but you don’t look at them with desire…

…but wait a minute, what about the Mazda cars with rotary engines? Oh, yes. The RX-8. Winner of over 20 international awards. Top Gear’s Best Coupe of 2004. Auto Express’ Best Coupe 2004 AND 2005. Car And Driver’s Ten Best list 2004 AND 2005. So if you want a fantastic coupe, what’s your first choice? Yes. The Mazda RX-8.
