Used Daihatsu Applause cars for sale

Daihatsu cars are actually part of the Toyota stable, having been acquired in 1999 by the Japanese automotive behemoth. Now, here’s a little quiz. Knowing that Daihatsu’s branding strapline is “We Make It Compact”, what would you say is the main feature of Daihatsu cars? Well done! So, we have four compact Daihatsu cars here for you to find out about: the Charade, the Copen, the Sirion, and the Terios.

The Copen is a fun roadster, kitted with a turbo for a little more oomph. It’s a Japanese K-Class car which means its engine size is limited but given that this is a tiny, low-down machine, any speed you travel in it seems pretty fast. You are guaranteed to get amusement although it’s a little pricy to buy, but like all Daihatsu cars it is cheap to run.

The Charade’s main selling point is that it retails for a dot under £6,000. Naturally it is very economic, and comes with good interior spec, but it seems a bit lightweight and the build quality is ‘thin. You do get ABS as standard, which is a bonus.

Next up from Daihatsu cars is the Terios and we have to say we just don’t get the point of this. It’s a compactified 4x4 off-roader and it looks very cute, but it doesn’t drive very cute at all, either on or off the road. Combine this with instability on the motorway if there is anything windy nearby and the reasons to buy the Terios start to fade.

The final example from Daihatsu cars is the Sirion. We like this one a lot. It's spacious and economical, and the driveability is rather good. If we had to come up with a criticism, it would be that the interior feels a bit unrefined, and there is not much pizzazz from the engine.

We say that the Copen and the Sirion are the ones to take a look at – the rest are probably worth glossing over.
