Marcos cars have more than 45 years of history behind them, so it is a fine thing to see they are still creating excellent sports cars with a whiff of exclusivity about them. The company may have changed hands but the cars themselves are as good as ever.

From today’s Marcos cars you can choose between the convertible TS, or the TSO which you can have as a coupe or a convertible. In the TSO Sports Pack Coupe, the 5.7 litre V8 engine leaps to 60 in 4 seconds and a run down the autobahn sees you barrelling along at 180 mph. That’s fast by absolutely anyone’s standards and you could go that fast too if you have £54,000 lying around to buy one. If you don’t have quite that much, under £40,000 will get you the entry level TSO convertible with less power but no less fun for the money.

OK. There are some drawbacks of course. Marcos cars are produced in small volumes, and the manufacturers don’t have the resources to iron out every issue – just the ones that count most. So you can expect the cabin to be a somewhat noisy place, for example, and the handling won’t be quite near Lotus levels. But all that can go hang – if you’re an individualist, the Marcos could be your perfect car.
