In the 1910s they achieved this and held on to it for seven years and set many more world records in the years afterwards.. This year (2005) three standard-bodied E320 CDIs fitted with the forthcoming V6 diesel engines broke world records for time to 50,000 and 100,000 miles – the cars ran for 30 days at an average speed of 140mph! That’s an awesome testament to their reliability and potency.

Mercedes cars have an unparalleled reputation for incorporating new technology – we have Herr Benz building the world’s first car, the first four-wheeled car and the first truck, and Herr Daimler’s invention of the carburettor. Then Mercedes cars featured the first multivalve engines, the first supercharged engines, the first diesel engines, the first independent suspension setup, the first crumple zone, the first fuel injection system, and the company also patented the airbag.
