Lotus Cars
We have a grand total of two types of Lotus cars for you to view specifications on, the Exige and the Elise. They are both excellent examples of what is meant by ‘driver experience’. Their very light bodies, stripped down interiors and excellent chassis combined with dependable Toyota engines make the acceleration eye-opening and the handling astounding. All as one would expect, given that handling is the foundation stone of the Lotus philosophy. At the top end of the Exige variants lies the positively brutal 240R, which swooshes to 60 in a spine-bracing 3.9 seconds and doesn’t run out of legs until it hits 155 mph. The grip that adds to the fun is developed by tailor-made Yokohamas which are almost slicks, coupled with good old-fashioned downforce, which means that at 100 miles per hour you might as well be glued to the road.
Both these Lotus cars makes a nod towards modern safety measures by including ABS brakes to help you slow down, but in terms of driving aids, that’s as good as it gets. As we mentioned before, the point of Lotus cars is to throw them round corners at disconcerting velocities…if that’s what you want to do, these are what you want.
