Sightings of Kia cars around Europe are increasing rapidly – so rapidly in fact that they have been the EU’s fastest growing motor company over the last two years. In our opinion there are two reasons for this rise – cheapness and interior specifications. Since they were taken over by Hyundai, feedback on Kia cars from the public to the product development department has come flooding in and they are getting a much better idea of what Europeans want.
It is fair to say that they still don’t have it right in the styling department. It is also fair to say that given the shoddiness of some of the earlier Kia cars there was only one way for the company to go. But then one must also mention that no matter what we think about the dodgy plastic quality and weakly (though economic) engines, the public really don’t care and are scooping them up like hotcakes. Kia cars make very good financial sense for those of us who keep a vehicle for years on end, and so aren’t that bothered about resale value. There is a Kia car, cheap as chips, in practically every automotive niche there is and to cap that, at the time of writing they have a £1 deposit and ‘first-seven-days’ insurance deal on the table which hasn’t failed to draw in plenty of punters.
If you a want an adequate motor at a really good price that delivers what the company describe as ‘acceptable’ performance, then Kia cars are almost certainly for you.
