Eye-opening and innovative, Aixam cars are ideal for getting around town. Whilst they don’t have a sporty engine and definitely aren’t much use for long-distance travel, if you need a vehicle for urban or local use Aixam cars (or quadricycles, if we are going to be precise) are an excellent choice. What’s more, some models can achieve 80 miles per gallon and a top speed of 65 mph, and are Motability accredited, which means they are easy to get in and out of, and can be purchased with a Motability Allowance.
In most European countries, Aixam cars can be driven without a license as per current EU regulations. Sadly the UK government has not yet seen fit to implement the appropriate legislation, and you will require a full driving license ( a motorcycle license will also suffice) to drive one.
The Aixam cars we have on review here are the Aixam 500 and Aixam 700 series, with several model options including petrol and diesel engine variations. All models in the Aixam 500 and Aixam 700 series are three-door hatchbacks, with automatic transmission, and feature roomy boot space and low tailgates, which makes loading bulky items such as wheelchairs much easier.
