Used car customers warned on 'dream car deals'

If a used car deal seems too good to be true then it probably is, one expert has suggested this week.

In an article for the Times, Jason Dawe states that many motorists looking for their "dream car" have come unstuck by making a purchase that has later revealed itself to be not quite the bargain they first thought.

He states that in a number of circumstances where a car is available at a "ridiculously low price", buyers can find themselves falling victim to scams such as fraudulent overseas deals and dodgy vehicle checks.

"It's this willing mindset into which some of the most elaborate but increasingly common car buying scams taps into and it's paying dividends for the scammers and major financial loss for the victims," he warns.

This week, Auto Express reported that a new partnership between mycarcheck.com and Nationwide Auto Centres will offer a full 15-point check for a fee of £24.95.
