Summary

Recommended. Strangely styled but cavernous full-sized MPV that offers great space, excellent utility, and is surprisingly nice to drive, too.

Review

Quite possibly the most useful family car on the planet. Cavernous interior space makes rival big people carriers feel positively cramped, you can choose between 7 and 8 seat configurations. Predictably excellent Toyota build quality and good cabin ergonomic design. Good ride and fine handling make the Previa easy to drive, until it comes to the nerve-wracking business of parallel parking anyway. 2.4 petrol and 2.0 D-4D turbodiesel engines both offer good performance and reasonable fuel economy. The 2.4 is best sampled with the excellent automatic gearbox. Priced on a par with equivalent Renault Espace models, the Toyota is probably the better all-rounder.
