New car from Alfa takes on the little big boys

Alfa Romeo has unveiled its latest new car and according to Auto Express the vehicle could give its high profile rivals a run for their money.
The magazine reports that the Alfa Romeo MiTo, which comes in a range of engine sizes including a 1.4-litre petrol version and a 1.9-litre diesel, is likely to go "head-to-head" with the likes of BMW's Mini and the new Audi A1.
It is reported that the small car takes a large part of its design inspiration from the manufacturer's 8C Competitizione supercar (pictured) and that the engine will feature a turbocharged engine similar to that is used in Fiat's Grande Punto and Bravo models.
One of the highlights for many new car shoppers could be Alfa Romeo's new electronic Dynamic Normal and All-Weather system - known as DNA - which tailors the vehicles responsiveness of the existing road conditions.
Three and four-door versions of the MiTo are expected with an estate and soft-top model under consideration and the car will have an estimated price tag of around £12,000.
Alfa's 8C Competizione will be sold in the US in a limited edition this year marking the first time the manufacturer has sold to the country since 1995, the Los Angeles Times reports.
