SummaryRecommended. The legendary American off-roader is fun to drive and looks great. It has excellent 4x4 ability, and the retro styling hides a very up-to-date vehicle. |
ReviewWhen the original, square Cherokee went on sale in Britain, it was highly sought after. Since then, the American off-roader has come up against stiffer competition from all-comers. Latest versions have been treated with retro styling but still pack plenty of punch for 4x4 work. The entry-level 2.4 Sport is underpowered, while the big 3.7 V6 is very thirsty for UK use. Best bet is the 2.8 CRD diesel. Inside, the cabin is roomy and up to date. There's a neat, two-part tailgate, tidy trim - and a considerable feel-good factor.
