Hex key set on test

03 Dec 07
If you love building models or remote control cars, then this new tool from Laser is right up your street. The miniature 16-piece Hex Key Set is measured in Mini Metric and imperial units and is the smallest kit we’ve ever seen. Sizes include 0.028, 0.036, 0.05,1/16, 5/64, 3/32, 7/64, 1/8, 9/64 inches. It’s certainly a well thought out product, with the hinged case working well and giving easy access to all the keys. Turn it on its head, and you’ll be pleased to find the 16 pieces are a snug fit and stay in place, unlike on some larger rivals. The Hex Key Set is flexible, too. It can be hooked on to your tool belt or even your keyring, as there’s a loop in the top corner of the case. You do need to exercise some caution, though, as the smallest keys feel brittle. Under pressure they will snap in two, leaving shards around your workshop and possibly stuck in your remote control car. However, the larger sizes are made of sterner stuff as they’re heavier and should be up to whatever model car you intend to tackle.
