Rating
SummaryAverage. Lacks the glitz of some Japanese rivals, but it is a good value workhorse. |
ReviewThe drab-looking Ranger is very much a working vehicle, not a "lifestyle" pick-up. If you are used to a conventional car, the Ranger is better than you might expect. It is actually quite light and pleasant to drive, although its agricultural roots do sometimes show through. The 2.5 litre diesel engine is not state-of-the-art, but it is reasonably refined and there is plenty of torque (pulling power). The four wheel drive version can tow a double horsebox of up to 2800kg and it also has a low-range gearbox for serious off-roading.
